As a part of the Austin-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, San Marcos is home to about 32,000 residents with an additional 10-15 thousand people within a 10 minute drive. Austin is 30 minutes north; San Antonio is 45 minutes south. The San Marcos City Government is attuned to the needs of businesses while being sensitive to the need to preserve the environment that makes the city so attractive.
